NEW: June 2, 2012 - 1907 Students Register from Ledger 2 is online. 4,505 records are now online. I will be adding a new column for the various spellings of last names so you can find more records for the same student. Spellings have been a constant problem.

NEW: May 5, 2012 - 1st Register complete for years 1893-1906. 4,154 records contained.

 

NOTE FOR THOSE WHO FIND A RELATIVE IN THESE FILES: I highly recommend anyone who has a relative on this list to get a copy of the student's records - it is filled with lots of personal information. They sometimes followed the students well past graduation. Oddly enough, I've never seen anything actually related to school, like grades or teachers for them. The ones I got generally cost abt. $20-$30 and you order them from the Archives in Chicago. The things I found included notes from bosses, some medical records, and, frankly, some gossip I didn't think was any of my business. There are several sections of records on this film:

 

Ledger 1: Contains years 1893-1906 Completed May 5, 2012

  • *Pp. 1-62 is a section titled ‘Descriptive Record of Students as Admitted’ and covers 1893-1896. It generally lists students according to arrival date. 1893-1896
  • *Pp. 140-145 is a section titled ‘Discharged from School’ for 1894-1896.
  • *Pp. 180 is a section titled ‘Deaths’.
  • *Pp. 195-422 is a section titled ‘Historical Record’ and covers 1897-1905. It lists students according to school year and the number assigned to each. - Being typed - see above for progress.
  • Pp. 423-463 is a listing, by alphabetical group, of boys for school year 1905. Repeat of records for the year in Historical Record.
  • Pp. 465-504 is a listing, by alphabetical group, of girls for school year 1905. Repeat of records for the year in Historical Record.
  • *Pp. 505-529 is the register for 1906. It lists first the boys and then girls, each in alphabetical groups.

Ledger 2: Contains years 1907-1914 Being typed and uploaded when year is completed.

  • This volume has no index. Marked Register of Pupils for each page. The register records students by school year. First the boys and then the girls are listed in alphabetical groups for each year.

Ledger 3: Contains years 1915-1932 Being typed and uploaded when year is completed.

  • This volume has no index. Marked Register of Pupils for each page. The register records students by school year. First the boys and then the girls are listed in alphabetical groups for each year.

  • Possible other remarks

This volume is not consistently organized. It includes 2 indexes:

  • The first is at the front of the book and the second is on pages 63-103. - not being typed for this site

Transcriber Notes:

  • Names are a constant problem in these files. Spellings of last names can be spelled one way and the parent's last name spelled different. There are cases of siblings next to each other on a page and their last names are spelled differently. Some of the writing is just plain hard to decipher due to penmanship.

  • Tribe or Nation is as is. I have noted that the same person is listed differently here for different years and records.
  • Parent may be a father, mother, step parent or guardian.
